Top Flight Food Court
|
Students at one of the
nation’s largest community colleges are enjoying “Top Flight” dining choices
and an enhanced campus life. J&B, the college’s food service operator, has
created a spectacular 12,000-square-foot food court rivaling that of many
leading regional malls with a great selection of food choices.
For over 20,000 students
and about 2,000 faculty and staff at Nassau Community College (“NCC”),
there’s no reason to leave campus at meal or snack time with the great
line-up of Taco Bell, Pizza Hut Express, Nathan’s Famous, Pasta Pasta, J&B
Salad Selects or a special meal from J&B Deli Market. For the student on the
run there is an incredible “Grab & Go” section in the Food Court that offers
a great selection of food choices. And on campus, Treat Street in the "B
Cluster" or Treat Street 2 in the "V" Building offers plenty of snacks and
other convenience store items. For the coffee lover,
Top Flight
Food Court also offers delicious “We Proudly Brew Fresh Ground Coffee made
to order".
The $2 million
renovation to NCC’s CCB Building includes a 400-seat food court constructed
for students, staff and their guests to enjoy. Each food selection has its
own counter and most offer full menus. In addition, Top Flight Food Court
offers a full catering menu for special events and occasions.
The dining area is named
Top Flight
Food Court, a reference to the college’s location on the grounds of the
former Mitchell Field, an air base that served as one of the nation’s early
centers of aviation. In 1927, Charles Lindbergh took off nearby on his
historical cross-Atlantic flight, an event that today is celebrated at the
adjacent Cradle of Aviation Museum. To create a strong link with the student
body, J&B designed the food court with an “Extreme
Sport”
motif and art exhibit, complete with artwork and paraphernalia of sports
such as snowboarding, hang gliding, skydiving, windsurfing and others. Mixed
in are various aviation items, ranging from vintage airplanes that “fly”
from the ceiling to enlarged photographs of the famous “Blue Angels.”
